Wednesday Wallpaper for Writers ~ www.BelindaWitzenhausen.com ~ February 20th, 2013

Hemingway Wallpaper

“If a writer of prose knows enough about what he is writing about he may omit
things that he knows and the reader, if the writer is writing truly enough,
will have a feeling of those things as strongly as though the writer had stated them.
The dignity of movement of an iceberg is due to only one-eighth of it being above water.
A writer who omits things because he does not know them only makes hollow places in his writing.”
– Ernest Hemingway

  1. I know what you mean, I guess it’s one of those things that distinguishes a seasoned writer from a beginner~I am still working on it…and probably will be for a long, long time. ;)Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment, it is greatly appreciated. Wishing you a wonderful week! 🙂

Hemingway was a peculiar bird, but full of good advice when it comes to writing. I love his quotes, but never cared for his books. Strange.
