 Read Me Dead

Read Me Dead

Alexia Wheaton’s problems go far beyond picking a dress and a date for the homecoming dance.

For seven years, Alex has lived with a painful memory – the memory of her parents’ horrific murder. As the sole witness, she has kept quiet about the identity of the murderer to protect herself and her family and friends, but when a journalist over hears her secret and writes about it in the local newspaper, Alex is plagued with fear that her parents’ murderer will soon find her – and silence her forever.

Alex is catapulted into a race against time to save her own life and bring her parents’ murderer to justice. She will face many secrets, lies, and betrayals before the truth about their murder is revealed.

 Piercing Through the Darkness

Piercing Through the Darkness

It’s on the edge of her memory like a word on the tip of her tongue, but Kandi can’t remember what it is to save her life.

Despite being a cop, Jimmy can’t protect Kandi from the one thing that haunts her. She’s in danger and doesn’t even know it. After it happened, her brain repressed her memories of the accident, and now, she’s taking a Biology class under a man who wants to see her dead. The memories have started coming back, and it feels like she’s miles away from him. How can he protect her when she doesn’t even know she needs protecting?

Can these characters pierce their way through the darkness?

Entertaining Angels

I’ve read many books that tackle the issue of spiritual warfare, but I especially loved this one. Mads was alive and real and jumped off the page! Her character is so strong, she needed strong characters to balance her, and Barnes certainly provided that in the characters of Chase and Zach.” – Author Precarious Yates

This story is beautiful and so profound.” – Author Sylvia Stein

I would recommend Entertaining Angels as a graceful stepping stone to self-acceptance and self-love.” – Author Christine Cunningham

Madison Andrews can’t face her reflection in the mirror. All she sees is a big, fat nobody. Yet, deep inside she longs for something more, something that’s not skin deep.

Along comes Zach, the new guy in school. He’s smoking hot and totally out of her league. She somehow catches his eye, and he makes her feel beautiful for once. But just as she gets close to Zach, her nerdy best friend, Chase, won’t let Madison doubt her true beauty, no matter how many meals she skips.

Even as Madison begins to realize that she is more than what she thinks, darker forces are at work, darker than the lies and mocking from her peers, stopping her from amounting to her full potential. Can Madison find true happiness in her own skin?

A Word from the Author

Entertaining Angels is near and dear to my heart. Essentially, it’s my story. I have struggled with my weight issues for many years, and I remember clearly the very first day I fell victim to the word fat

I am more than that label. I am a Child of God, and He wanted me to see that. Making a long story short here, I have began to realize that although I am overweight, it’s not who I am. I am so much more, and He wanted me to share that story with everyone else, especially young adults and woman who need to be reminded just how beautiful they are.

If you do buy Entertaining Angels, I hope that it shows you just how beautiful, or handsome if you’re a guy, you are.

Guest Post by Author Emerald Barnes

Sometimes the hardest thing to do is sit down and be creative; to build worlds simply by thinking about them and letting the words bleed onto paper.  I’ve found myself stuck countless times wondering what to do to fix a problem I’m having in my books or to simply finish plotting a novel.  I may not be an expert, but I’ve found some helpful things to do when you’re stuck creatively.

Find a quiet place and just write.  Sometimes, stream of consciousness writing can declutter your mind.  It doesn’t matter what you say or what you think.  It doesn’t have to be related to your project.  It just needs to be whatever is on your mind to take away the racing thoughts that may hinder your project. Sometimes, we need to just write it all down in order to focus our thoughts on what needs to be written or fixed.

Go for a walk or run.  Getting outside and exercising or simply just taking a walk can help get your creative juices flowing again.  The fresh air and sunshine does wonders for your brain.  Get your heart rate up and focus your energy onto something that isn’t your project.

Distance yourself for a whileIf you can pull yourself away from your project and focus on something else for a few minutes (or however long it takes), you can come back to it with fresh eyes.  Sometimes, that’s all you need.  A break.  Don’t be afraid to take one!

Then, face that blank page head on!  Type in “Chapter One” or “Untitled Chapter” and have at it!  Start writing.  Mentally picture your characters doing that thing they do and go for it.  So what if it’s awful?  That’s what edits are for.  Just write!  And write.  And write.  And write.

Don’t worry if your creativity isn’t working like it should.  We’ve all been there before.  We’ve all had issues with feeling creative.  Don’t let it get you down.  Just step back, assess the situation, and handle it with as little stress as possible.  Stress will not get you what you need.  It will only hinder you.  Take a deep breath and keep going.
