“We Are the World Blogfest” seeks to promote positive news, highlight causes and in the process hopefully inspire other bloggers to do the same.

Let us flood social media with peace and love, and “In Darkness, Be Light.”

****Final Update March 25th, 2022****

As I mentioned last month, sadly, this will be our last #WATWB post. It marks our fifth anniversary and our fifty-fifth post which feels like a satisfying place to bid adieu. I can’t say enough how grateful I am to all co-hosts and bloggers who have been here month after month spreading light during some particularly challenging times on both personal and global levels. I want to especially thank Damyanti Biswas for co-founding this adventure with me and Ashlynn Waterstone who month after month gave it her all, promoting positivity by running our FB page and making sure our positive messages reached the masses.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to all who have participated over the years. I feel truly blessed to have read some beautiful uplifting posts and crossed paths with some incredibly talented bloggers on my journey. For me #WATWB changed the way I navigated the world wide web. Instead of being bogged down by the negativity online I was instead inspired, constantly on the lookout for positive stories to share, even during challenging times. It seemed like a small shift, but I would like to think it changed me for the better and I hope it was as positive for all who have participated.

“If you change the way you look at things the things you look at change.”. ~ Wayne Dyer

In closingI will continue to share posts that carry with them the spirit that was so beautifully seen in #WATWB and I hope you too will continue to be a light in the darknessIf you post something that you feel would be perfect for #WATWB please feel free to share using the hashtag (#WATWB) post the link on our Facebook Page Wall (@watwbcommunity) or drop us a mention on twitter @WATWB.

A huge THANK YOU again! Be well and keep shining….

***IMPORTANT NOTICE*** February 2022

Hello #WATWB Family, Belinda here…
Unfortunately, as much as we wish that this could go on forever, we have decided that this will be our penultimate post, with our final one being on March 25th, 2022, on our fifth anniversary and our fifty-fifth post. I am so grateful to Damyanti Biswas for co-founding, Ashlynn Waterstone for running our FB page and all co-hosts and bloggers who have been here month after month spreading light in some very dismal times. I thank everyone who has participated over the years. I feel truly blessed to have read some beautiful uplifting posts and met some incredibly talented bloggers along the way. I hope you found it, like myself, a positive journey, and will continue to share posts that carry with them the spirit that was so beautifully seen in #WATWB.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank each and every person who contributed to #WATWB and hope you continue to be a light in the world!✨

******Update 05/21******

***Changes at #WATWB***

Hello #WATWB Family!
I hope everyone is well and coping well with what has become our “new normal”. Now more than ever there is a need for WATWB, we need those positive heartwarming or funny stories that show kindness and humanity.

As always, I am so incredibly grateful to our wonderful co-hosts and bloggers for their dedication, positivity, and enthusiasm, they have helped add light on a bit of the darkness we’re all enduring throughout the world. Again, as always, a special heartfelt thank you to Ashlynn Waterstone for going above and beyond to manage our Facebook page as well as sharing and promoting #WATWB.

Unfortunately, many of our co-hosts have had to take hiatuses and as a result, wanting to keep #WATWB running with a skeleton crew we will now have only two co-hosts each month and will be working from our Facebook page and Twitter accounts instead of the Linkylist. Please ensure that you use the #WATWB in your title so that we can find you!

We ask those on Facebook and Twitter to like visit, comment and share posts and please reciprocate to those who promote your post.

Please stay safe and be well.
Belinda

March 8th, 2017

Welcome to the “We are the World Blogfest” (#WATWB). The #WATWB was inspired by a simple conversation about how all the negativity on social media was weighing on us. Wanting to make a difference we decided to try to do our part to infuse social media with all the good stories that are out there. We hope to share stories that show kindness, compassion, hope, overcoming challenges and in general, the impressive resilience of the human spirit. For every dark, negative story out there, there is a positive, heartwarming story that will add some light and lift the human spirit.

~~~GUIDELINES~~~
1. Keep your post to below 500 words, as much as possible.
2. All we ask is you link to a human news story on your blog on the last Friday of each month, one that shows love, humanity, and brotherhood. Something like this news, about a man who only fosters terminally ill children.
3. Join us on the last Friday of each month in sharing news that warms the cockles of our heart. No story is too big or small, as long as it goes beyond religion and politics, into the core of humanity.
4. We’ll read and comment on each other’s posts, get to know each other better, and hopefully, make or renew some friendships with everyone who signs on as participants in the coming months.
5. Please post the url to the comments section of the monthly post on our Facebook page or tweet using the #WATWB hashtag.
6. Share, share, share! Help us spread the word and bring a little light to social media. Feel free to tweet, share and yell from the rooftops (ok, your neighbours might not appreciate that…so maybe no yelling LOL) using the #WATWB hashtag to help get us trending! 😊
Not a blogger but would like to promote us?…please share our posts using the hashtag~ #WATWB
